How did California’s wine industry grow into the international powerhouse it is today? Join us as wine historian James Lapsley takes us on a journey from the days of the Gold Rush, which drove a new thirst for domestic wine, to today’s market of nearly-endless consumer choice. Beautiful vintage wine labels from the collections at the California Historical Society and the UC Davis Library illuminate each chapter in the story of California wine. Following the talk, Darrell Corti will present a tasting of “historical” wines.
